Physical Education Focus

proper foot attire

Three major areas of focus that contribute to your child's health and physical well being:

     1. Movement concepts - variety of ways we travel (e.g. galloping, skipping, hopping, running), changes of direction and speeds, different ways to balance, jump and land

     2.  Skill themes - basic motor skills such as throwing, catching, kicking and striking and rhythmical movement.  In the upper levels the children are taught how to use these fundamental skills in games and sports.

     3.  Wellness concepts- healthy and unhealthy foods and lifestyle choices and ways to imporve cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength and flexibility.

Very Important:  Please make sure your student is wearing the proper foot attire for Physical Education days!!

Sandals, flip-flops, boots, crocs and slip-on shoes are all a safety issue as they can fall off, trip your student, and leave exposed toes and heels that can be easily stepped on during many of our activities. Also, such shoes are not supportive for arches, heels and ankles during physical activity and can damage young feet at an early age and cause foot trouble later in life.
